2 Corinthians 10
Paul
had a difficult time earning the respect of the Corinthians. The false apostles
were doing everything they could to discredit his work. Paul very calmly tries to explain his
relationship with Christ and the authority he has been given as a true apostle.
He also refuses to follow the rules set by the false apostles.
2 Corinthians 11
In
this chapter Paul continues to voice his unhappiness with the false apostles,
who spent a lot of time trying to discredit his message and ruin his
reputation. He was also upset that he had spent too much time trying to undo
the damage they had caused among the Corinthians. He points out he preaches and
teaches without being paid for his services and he is more qualified than the
false prophets.
2
Corinthians 12
Paul
humbly points out all that God has done for him as proof of his qualifications.
He blames the Corinthians for their own problems since some of them had been involved
in gossip and other sins and had not repented.
2
Corinthians 13
In
the conclusion of this epistle (letter), Paul threatens severe punishment for
sinners and then he prays to God on behalf of the Corinthians.
